Freedom by foot

On the 9th of September 2011 we set out from England to the continent by ferry to begin our adventure in earnest. By foot we will make our way to the first destination, which is Milan, from there we will be flying over to Bangalore for an archaeological conference (as you do) and an escape from the harsh European winter.

At any and all points in our little wander we will be on the look out for interesting and exciting places and people to learn from. Our journey begins with a zeal for experiencing ancient and traditional life & new innovative ways of living for the future.

Donkeys and Castels

Currently reclining in a 12th century Cistercian priory after walking our first 200km. We meandered along the Lot River for most of the last week, enjoying the scorching French Autumn and the refreshing roadside delights of walnuts, chestnuts, figs, apples, pears and pomegranates. Two days were spent in the company of Ramon and Serge, walking along the river with their donkey Pichu and his beautiful yellow wagon. Could we ask for a better roadside companion? Marc and Amiee Delighted ^(^`(^ù"`(&é'è'§é§
days are being spent at the Priory making chicken houses, excavating, weeding, foraging, varnishing and mainly cooking and eating culinary wonders under the shade of the walnut tree with Nick and Sam. We will leave here soon to continue our route to Milan, check our route page to see where (roughly) we have traveled by so far. We couldn't have asked for better hosts. This place is wonderful.

I am still home alone with Dolly, I think the summer is over after that big storm last night, I hope you are dry and warm enough.

Pelle a Pomme is working a dream, the whole lawn is covered in walnuts and the fat hen is wet, so no more. Happy Days.

    travel safely.
